For home builders and architects
The cheapest accessible home is the one designed that way. We help you spec aging-in-place and visitability features that cost little at framing and a lot later, and we plan the elevator hoistway before the first stud goes up.
Plan the elevator at framing
A residential elevator needs a hoistway of the right size, a pit or a pit alternative, an overhead clearance, a dedicated circuit and a machine location. All of that is trivial on the drawings and expensive after drywall. Bring us in at design and we give you the dimensions for the elevator model your client is likely to choose, plus a stacked-closet option if they want to defer the elevator itself and install it later.
We install and inspect under our own license as a Licensed Texas Elevator Contractor (#20399), so you are not sourcing an installer at the end of the job.
Aging-in-place and visitability specs
Most of these cost nothing extra if they are on the plans:
One no-step entry with a level landing, and a route from the driveway that does not need a ramp later.
36-inch doors and hallways wide enough for a wheelchair on the main floor.
A main-floor bedroom and a full bath with a curbless shower, or at least the drain, slope and blocking to add one.
Blocking in every bathroom wall for grab bars, and over the bed for a future ceiling lift.
Lever handles, rocker switches at reachable heights, and outlets set higher.
A kitchen with one lowered work surface, or the cabinetry to allow one, and 42 to 48 inches between runs.
We review plans and mark up what would help your client stay in the house for decades, and what to leave out. Detail on how those rooms are built is on our accessible kitchens and bathroom pages.
How we work with your team
We call within one business day of your first contact and set a plan review.
Plan review, free. Hoistway and pit requirements, blocking and clearance notes, and any code questions.
Written scope and price for the elevator, lifts and any accessibility package, to you and to your client.
We install on your schedule, coordinate with your framer and electrician, and handle the elevator inspection.
We keep you posted through the job. If your client is a veteran or has a family member on a Texas waiver program, we know the paperwork; see VA grants and who pays.
